For an area known more for Mexican and Native American influenced cuisine, Samuri has surprisingly good sushi (and I am from NYC, where sushi standards are quite high.) Overall, Samurai's sushi is fresh and the selection is of a good variety. Moreover, the service is great. The wait staff is friendly, attentive, and are usually willing to substitute items, etc. The prices aren't cheap, but the portions are well-sized, so you will definitely leave feeling full…. My hubby and I eat here a lot, and we love it. It has the best sushi in town, by far. Plus, the teppan is awesome, and Carter is one of the better servers I have had in Albuquerque…. by lobo5747 from Albuquerque, NM, 4/29/05
Great Sushi! Awesome atmosphere! And chef Nori is the best! Fun to watch and nice as can be! The Morning roll is FREAKING AMAZING! A bit pricey for the specialty rolls, but TOTALLY worth it! Hot Sake and good sushi=a GREAT time…. by Vendhaswater, 9/10/06
Absolutely the best sushi in Albuquerque. Chef James is a master. The staff members are considerate and efficient. The food is fresh and artfully plated. The sushi bar is immaculate….by Sheffield, 5/25/2004
I was visiting Albuquerque from San Francisco and was pleasently impressed with Samurai's teppan yaki. The chef was entertaining and the service was great. I would recommend a visit for locals and visitors….by baileybay, 4/24/2003
I've eaten here many times. The service is usually very good and the sushi excellent. The portions here have always been big. My most recent trip there was a little disappointing, as the chefs were out of several of my favorite fish and had to substitute. I forget the name of my favorite roll, but it has pickled radish and squash in it and roe on top. Sounds weird but the textures work well together. I didn't see in on the menu on my last visit and I hope it is there when I go back. So, instead I tried the volcano roll. Not what I expected. The thing was brought to the table literally in flames. I guess we should have suspected that from the name. Anyway, It had a weird melted cheese and imitation crab topping. My husband and I likened it to a mac and cheese like taste. Weird. When I go to a sushi place, I like my fish raw, so that was a bad choice on our part. But if you know someone trying sushi for the first time then it might be a campy thing for them to try….by ml_s, 12/23/2006
We took our high school theater and choir students during a Spring Break performance excursion. Most had never been to any place like Samurai Grill. They all loved it. The restaurant accommodated our group of 20 quite well. The chefs were great at getting everyone to feel they were a part of the performance! We went early on a weeknight so our boisterous group would not disturb more 'civilized' diners at traditional dinner hour. It was great. Plan to go back…. by Linda B. Durango, CO, 8/1/06
